Search Engine Marketing: SEM is a targeted marketing tool that is a function of bidding on keywords/phrases on a search engine and writing ad phrases to appear on pages where keywords have been bought.
Spider: A spider, also know as a crawler, bot, or ant, is a program that browses the Internet in order to create a copy of all visited pages for processing by a search engine.
Google Maps: A free web mapping service application provided by Google that powers many map-based services including the Google Maps website, Google Ride Finder and embedded maps on third-party websites via the Google Maps API.
Keyword: Words used by viewers searching for information. They can be purchased from search engine companies so that an appropriate ad banner sponsored link may be displayed when a viewer searches on a particular word/phrase. Keywords/phrases are also used in various areas within a website to indicate to a spider that the particular website is relevant to what the spider is looking for.
Impressions: The total number of times your three-line ad appeared on a search engine return for a keyword that was purchased.
Geo-Targeting: The method of displaying your advertisements to users in specific geographical locations. Country, State, Zip Code, Longitude and Latitude.
Pay-Per-Click: Customers who used Search Engine Marketing Only pay when a Web user clicks on Your Advertisement.
Click-Through Rate: Number of Times Your ad is clicked on/(Divided By) Number of times your ad apprears on a Search Engine Results Page. Average is .8%.
Bidding: An offer of setting a price one is willing to pay for a keyword
Conversion Tracking: A code to track a sale or action taken by a viewer on a given website. This is very important when getting into setting a dollar amount to a lead that is generated
